If you’ve been around long enough, you’ve probably been victim to scams. Even if you personally haven’t, I’m sure that at least you’ve gotten a lot of spam. This has made surfers much more aware.

When you’re selling something, it’s all about credibility. The surfers who are used to buying products online will ask questions to test it. On the other hand, affiliate marketers should do their best to anticipate those questions and answer them even before they’re asked. This is why you should by all means seem credible. How can you boost that credibility? Glad you ask:

1 – Honesty: When you surf online, sometimes ads get your attention. If they do, you probably will click on them and I’m sure that you’ve gotten disappointed by them. False advertising drives customers away from your website, and will also make you lose money.
2 – Knowing the product: This is very important. Owing the product will mean that you’ll have a lot of information about it. Your product reviews will stand from the others, and that’ll boost your credibility.
3 – Ask for feedback: Got a happy costumer? Ask them to write a testimonial about the review. Maintain the interaction as it’s really good for the business.
4 – Promote quality products only: High refund rates hurt not only your reputation, but also your revenue. Promoting high-quality products means that those rates will be lower.
5 – Keep the design simple: If there’s something people hate is website that make their eyes hurt. If your design is slick and simple, your sales are sure to be better.
6 – Respect your costumers: Everyone hates website music, pop-ups and broken links. Avoid them and costumers will be happier.
7 – Be available: Make it easy for customers to get in touch with you. Have some sort of contact page or form so that they can ask you things about the products.
8 – Stay in touch: Frequent updates help boost sales as they build a good relationship between the customer and the affiliate marketer. Just make sure those updates aren’t spam.
9 – Don’t ignore anyone: Some affiliate marketers make a big mistake: If they feel the customer isn’t going to buy the product they just ignore him. Fight for the sales, help them as much as you can and even if you don’t get that sale now, it’s more likely the customer comes back and buys something.
10 – Freebies: Everyone loves them, and if you provide good, free products, your reputation will sky-rocket, as will your sales.

Gaining your costumer’s trust isn’t hard, just be trustworthy!

You’ve probably realized by now that most of the work an affiliate marketer does is by writing. You need to communicate to your potential customers and only doing so, you’ll be able to sell things.

But let’s look at this from another perspective. This about not selling, but pre-selling. Pre-selling is really all about using your own words to capture (and keep) the interest from your customers. To do so, you’ll need to write. A lot.

At first you may think that this is too hard. It just takes too much time for the rewards it’ll bring. Sure, in the beginning it can sound pretty boring, which is why affiliate marketing is not for everyone (nor it is intended to be).

If you are writing about products you don’t like, then it can become a really tedious process. However, if you share some interest in the product, it becomes much easier to really tell how you feel about it, what the good things about it are and all that.

Choosing a good niche is important, but writing about what you like is also. The best strategy to sell a product is to LIKE it. And if you do, you’ll be able to tell people exactly WHY that product will make their lives better. That is the most important part of it. Learning writing skills to get good texts that will attract users is something that is sure to take a while to master, but once you do, you’ll see how easy it is to stack up the sales.

We’ll later come back to the topic of writing these texts, whether they’re articles to post or several other techniques, so be sure to come back and be sure to sign-up for our RSS feed and e-mail newsletter for more content.

One of the strategies that many are using right now to promote products is to have a website in which they review or recommend a product. This is a fine strategy, but many are failing. Why? Because they don’t know the products. That is why if you’re promoting a product, you should actually promote something you like, to honestly like that product. Only then your review will be as sincere are possible.

To be persuasive, you need to know the product you’re promoting. If you have personal experience about it and are truly enthusiastic, it becomes much easier to talk about it.

This is the reason the best affiliates (often called super-affiliates) usually really buy the products they promote. They’ll really study the product inside and out, noting all the features it has, even the bad ones!

Writing a review is something that can take a while and you’ll need to re-read what you’ve written several times before you get the desired result (convince the costumer the product is good and have them buy it).

The best reviewers know what they want to say (not only the good things, actually) and will anticipate what the readers will be thinking, thus making it possible to address the questions they have even before those are asked!

Some are trying to create huge feature lists and everything, but let me tell you this: that doesn’t work.

The best strategy is to tell your potential costumers exactly what they are getting and how that can change their lives!

It does no good to you if you have hundreds of visitors which don’t really care about your what you’re offering. Some say that from half to one per cent is actually a good conversion ratio in term of visitors/sales.

That would mean that for every hundred customers you’re driving to your website, one would buy something. Is that really what you want?

I believe you can make much more than that: in fact, I believe you can get anywhere from 2.5 to 6 per cent (depending on the niche, obviously), which would be an improvement of over 100%!

The trick here is knowing how to do so effectively.

The first thing you need to worry about is the products you choose. I’ve posted some guidelines on how to choose a product before and following them will help you get better sales, as even you, the affiliate marketer, feel the product is good. Advertising a product you don’t like is a lot harder and it’ll be way more difficult to make sales.

If you’re reviewing products, as I’m doing in this website from time to time, you really need to review them. Everything in it: the good parts and the bad parts. If your review is very complete, then you’ll have a lot more success as the customers will understand what’s good and what’s not so good about the product, and if you recommend something, they’ll likely trust you in that.

Creating a good connection with the potential customers is a selling point to any website. Remember, if you recommend a product and it’s really good, those customers will come back for more!

Another good thing you can do, is to buy or get review copies of the products. Reviewing a product without knowing it or trying it before is not a good choice for you.

If you’re a customer yourself, then knowing the products will help you give an honest opinion about it, and to check for yourself if that product is actually worth the money.

SEO: Meta Tags

Meta tags come as an important part in Search Engine Optimization. They are extra information for search engine spiders to index your website.

Title Tags – This is one of the most important factor in how a search engine will rank your website. These title tags should include the most relevant keyword phrases.

Description Tags – Another very important part, and you should include your main keywords once or twice in it.

While many believe that meta tags aren’t important anymore to most search engines, it doesn’t really hurt and the work is minimal.
